Story of a survivor of the HK education system

Karen Tsang (Fellow 17-18 | Graduate of Law - LLB, HKU)

As a survivor of the examination system, Karen hopes to keep her students curious and encourage them to keep on learning, rather than becoming a victim of this rote-learning education system. During her Fellowship, she took the perspective of her students, to understand the difficulties of their education and tried new teaching methods to bring the world closer to them.

After the Fellowship, Karen entered the legal profession. With her empathy towards her students, she is mobilizing support around her legal network to continue promoting educational change.

Cycle 2 Application Deadline: 3rd December 2021

Our Vision and Mission

For many economically disadvantaged children, poverty is destiny: our education system limits their exposure, resources, support and opportunity access.

While there is no single solution to education inequity, it starts with a community of leaders.

We find the most promising young leaders to teach in grassroots schools in our year-long Fellowship Program. This transformative classroom experience, coupled with our developmental support, empowers these future leaders to create long-lasting changes for education equity across sectors.

We envision a future where all children in Hong Kong have equal opportunities to learn, grow and actualize their potential.
